Who doesn't love shaved ice? It is wonderful to have a machine to make shaved ice at home when you wish. This is an awesome looking machine with beautiful color combination. The material quality is excellent as well. Though the weather is still too cold to thoroughly enjoy shaved ice, I at least wanted to check the texture. Operation is very simple. I attached cone holder with cone to collect shaved ice. You can use ice cubes or use provided ice mold to make it. I used ice cubes and put it in shaver bowl. Then I placed the motor cabinet, started and filled the cone. The texture of the shaved ice is just like you would you find in a commercial place! Once the weather starts to warm up, instead of ready made, I plan to make my own syrup using unsweetened drink mix so that I can control how much sugar goes into it. The cleaning is very easy which is a big plus. I am very happy with it.

This red electric ice shaver is super easy to use and great for snow cones on hot days! It features stainless steel cutting blades that cut regular ice from your fridge into snow like ice for snow cones. It also comes with a reusable plastic snow cone cup, which is a great added feature if you don't keep snow cone cups around the house often. I would recommend the easy to use nostalgia ice shaver!

Easy to use with reusable snow cone cup!

My kids and I use this it works really well. Having little ice thing works out great makes perfect size ice cubes. My kids are asking if they can use it the summer for making snow cones and trying to sell them I think that's a great idea it's really simple to use. It is light weight and very durable.

Snow cones

Nostalgia Red Electric Ice Shaver is a cute little machine that quickly makes shaved ice for a variety of uses. Here are a few features to note:

*The machine can run roughly 10 minutes before needing to rest to ensure longevity of the motor. 

* The shaved ice is nicely fine and great for snow cones and drinks. Included in the booklet is a list of ideas and recipes for how to use the shaved ice.

* Cleaning the unit is pretty easy, but hand wash only. The machine portion, with the motor, cannot be submerged in water. It's easy to wipe clean and the moving parts can be rinsed easily. The other parts can be cleaned with soap and water. 

*This machine is designed for making smaller, personal use amounts. The plastic parts are fine, but not overly durable. 

* It does take a moment to get a feel for how to use the shaver. Once you get the feel for how to arrange the large pieces of ice, it's easy to use. 

Overall this is a cute little ice shaver! My kids and I enjoyed making our own sweet syrups and having snow cones. So yummy!

Cute little personal ice shaver

Love this Electric Ice Shaver! This Shaver is super easy to assemble and use. The only thing that wasn't super obvious at first is that you need to purchase syrups or flavorings ahead of time because they are not included. We improvised and decided to simply use orange juice instead and our daughter loved it. You can also experiment and add sweet condensed milk, vanilla ice cream, lime juice, or kool aid. Sliced fruits are also delicious.

It uses regular ice from your fridge. You just put the cubes in the top and hold it down and it grinds the ice into snow cone shavings. It even comes with a nice plastic reusable snow cone. The snow cone is great for catching the shavings. I might recommend dumping the shavings in a bowl for little kids otherwise, they have to hold the plastic cone and cannot put it down.

It's super easy to clean since it's just melted ice afterwards which is basically just water. Instead of ice you can freeze juice or just use a frozen juice canister instead. You know the frozen kind you usually add water to? It is delicious, but it also requires more clean up of the machine afterwards.

Overall super happy with this ice shaver. My daughter and I love it!

Nice and Easy!

There is nothing like a snow cone machine at a birthday party. This was a great priced compact item I'm glad we got. You must buy the syrups and paper cones separately. None are included. It does come with a reusable hard plastic cone, but unless you are making just one for one person, it isn't enough. However I found a much better use for the reusable cone. The paper cones I purchased didn't hold as securely in the holder as I'd like. They are flimsy paper and perhaps there might be better options to purchase. What I ended up doing was putting the paper liners inside the reusable one that it came with to help stabilize. The ice cubes my refrigerator makes are giant. They didn't shave as easily as the ice cubes that came in the bag. The purchased bag ones were smaller and easier for the machine to process. The kids loved it, once we worked out the little things we were able to make them quite quickly. It's not overly bulky so easy to store.

Must buy accessories

I received the Nostalgia Red Electric Ice Shaver. Also known as, "snow cone maker". This is a simple tool to make great, ice shaved drinks with. The main part of this appliance is the stainless steel blade and the stainless steel plate. The plate has 4 raised sections to grip into the ice as it is pushed down to be shaved off by the blade. The height of the unit is 13 inches tall. It has an electric cord that is 31 1/2 inches in length. The unit comes with an ice mold that fits frozen ice into the shaving section. However, I am sure you will be making treats using more ice than what one mold can hold. That being said, regular ice cubes can be used in the unit. It also come with one plastic snow cone holder. I thought this was a bit silly. Because, I am sure you will be making more that one snow cone at a time. If you can't find the paper cups for the snow cones, you can actually fit a small cup in the section once you remove the cone holder. No flavoring comes with the kit. If you can't find the flavoring in a store or online, there are some recipes online.

Nostalgia Red Electric Ice Shaver

My kids are in love with Korean Shaved Ice 
desserts with a base of shaved ice, surrounded with 
a variety of fruit, a drizzle of condensed milk and 
topped with ice-cream or whipped cream. It can 
get expensive to go out for these treats too often. 
This electric ice shaver makes soft as snow shaved 
ice to make snow cones or we like to make 
Korean shaved ice treats which are much healthier 
than a lot of desserts. The base has suction cups 
to keep the machine steady. You can freeze some 
ice into the cup included or just use your own ice 
cubes. This machine is smallish, portable and does 
the job. The only downside is it is a bit noisy but 
that's to be expected.

Great for making shaved ice treats

My daughter asked for this, she loves to be in the kitchen and loves shaved ice. This shaver is super easy to use and the ice mold is a great, no mess way for her to make a sno-cone on her own. The reason I gave this 4 stars is because for some reason every time we use it, it trips the outlet and we have to re-set them. This makes it necessary that I am always available while she uses the machine because she doesn't know how to do that on her own.

Fun for the whole family

Horrible, waste of time and money! You can only use ice that's made with the one small mold provided with the machine, so if you want to make multiple cups of shaved ice I'd advise you start making ice with the one mold weeks in advance (one ice block makes about 2  6oz cups of shaved ice). It absolutely does not work with regular ice cubes… I have 4 kiddos, can you imagine the disappointed looks on their faces when I gave 2 of them shaved ice and the other 2 got none( because I was depending on the machine to work with regular ice cubes)!!! I am definitely returning this item! We even tried to break down ice cubes thinking they were too big for the machine, nothing works but ice made with the mold. Only good point was the texture of the shaved ice was awesome very light and snowy, not just shaved crunchy ice.
