These hiking shoes have quickly become my absolute favorites. They are incredibly comfortable and perfect for long hikes. The bottom of the shoe is very sturdy and supportive, which helps prevent slipping and gives me extra confidence on the trail. I also love that they're slip-on — no worrying about tying or adjusting laces. The color is beautiful and neutral, so it goes with everything. I couldn't be happier with them and would definitely recommend!

I honestly love these hiking shoes. The color looks great in person, and they're completely waterproof, which is a huge plus. They're incredibly comfortable and have the perfect amount of squeeze—secure without feeling tight. As a heavier, heavyset guy, it's hard to find shoes that actually feel supportive, but these do the job perfectly. They're easily some of the most comfortable shoes I've put on my body in a long time, especially since I usually buy cheaper shoes. These feel like a major upgrade, and I couldn't be happier with them.

Let's be honest: when you buy Ozark Trail, you aren't usually looking for a status symbol. You're looking for something that won't fall apart when the pavement ends. After putting these through a weekend of slick limestone and muddy inclines, I've realized these might be the best-kept secret in the outdoor aisle.
Here is a breakdown of why these shoes punch way above their price tag.
1. The "Cloud-on-Crags" Comfort
Most budget hikers feel like wearing two bricks strapped to your feet. These are different.
• Zero Break-in Period: Usually, new hikers mean blisters. I took these straight from the box to a 4-mile loop, and my heels remained intact.
• The "Goldilocks" Cushioning: The midsole has enough "squish" to absorb the impact of jagged rocks, but it's firm enough that you don't feel like you're walking on marshmallows (which can actually tire your feet out faster).
• Padded Collar: The ankle support is plush without being bulky, preventing that annoying "digging" sensation when you're trekking downhill.
2. Traction That Actually Bites
This is where the Ozark Trails surprised me most. The outsole looks aggressive, and it performs even better.
• Deep Lug Depth: The tread pattern is spaced wide enough to shed mud instead of holding onto it, which keeps you from sliding on the "second step."
• Multi-Directional Grip: Whether you're climbing up a loose gravel slope or navigating a wet log, the rubber compound feels surprisingly "sticky" for a non-Vibram sole. It grips onto slick surfaces where cheaper shoes usually turn into ice skates. urprisingly nimble/lightweight. Are these going to last you 10 years of trekking the Himalayas? Probably not. But for the weekend warrior, the casual camper, or someone who just wants a reliable pair of "dirt shoes" that won't break the bank, these are a triumph of value. Pro Tip: If you have narrow feet, consider wearing a slightly thicker wool sock. Ozark Trail tends to have a wider toe box, which is great for foot swell during long hikes, but might feel "roomy" if you're used to a tight athletic fit. No tight lace is also the plus.

Trail shoes

The shoes arrived well packaged in a sturdy box and were in excellent condition. The size 9.5 fits true to size, and they feel comfortable right out of the box. The shoes are lightweight but still provide good stability and support, especially with the solid sole design. Overall, they feel comfortable, stable, and well made for daily wear or light trail use.

when it says true to size it's not far fetched. I have to wear thin socks otherwise it fits too tight. wearing no socks is ok but after a few hours the neoprene part chafes your ankles. flipside is id rather buy and use these rather than but other hiking shoes for quadruple it's price

I love these shoes-they're comfortable, stylish, and protective. I can wear them for a couple of hours of hiking and they're still comfortable. The width is great and doesn't hurt my toes. They're good quality and waterproof. They lasted a long time with daily wear and frequent hikes on trails while walking several times a week. The  shoes is in the good weight.

I purchased this pair online (cream color) and I extremely happy with them not only as trail shoes but to wear everyday. I had already went to my local walmart and purchased a black pair and was so impressed by the quality that I had to buy the cream color ones too. I have to wear custom orthotics which in my opinion made these shoes some of the best I have every purchased. Both are a size 9 and both fit me perfectly so they seem to be consistent with the quality and the sizing. They are very stable / sturdy shoes that so far are holding up to my daily trail hikes even better than my old Merrells. They have a like a neoprene bootie inside them that makes them waterproof and works well. The only negative I have is that my feet do get a little bit hot when just wearing them around for everyday use BUT that's to be expected with any waterproof shoes / boots otherwise they would not be waterproof. Both pair are so much more than I expected. Hope this helps.

Love them so much I bought 2 pair

s soon as I received these shoes, I decided to put them to the test right away so I could give a genuine opinion. On my first night wearing them, I ended up having to run after a patient outside of the hospital, which was not something I had planned for but definitely showed how these shoes perform under pressure. During that 12-hour shift, I walked about 4 miles total. By the end of the night, my feet were a little sore, but I believe that was mostly due to the fact that I barely sat down at all and had back-to-back admissions the entire shift. Considering how demanding the night was, the soreness was minimal and expected.

The real test came on the second night. I worked a 15-hour shift and logged around 7 miles, and I'm happy to say I had no foot pain at all. That honestly surprised me, especially after such a long night with constant movement. The shoes felt broken in by then and provided solid support, cushioning, and stability. I didn't experience pressure points, heel pain, or arch discomfort, which is a big deal for someone who works long healthcare shifts.

Another feature I really appreciate is that these hiking shoes are waterproof. Working in the ER, spills and wet floors happen, so having shoes that keep my feet dry is a huge plus. They also feel sturdy and secure, which helped me feel confident moving quickly when needed.

Overall, I'm impressed with the Ozark Rock Plate Hiker Shoes, especially considering how physically demanding my job is. After just two nights of heavy use, they proved to be comfortable, supportive, and reliable. While there was slight soreness on the first night, the second night completely changed my opinion, and they performed exceptionally well during long hours and high mileage.

I would recommend these shoes not only for hiking, but also for healthcare workers, night-shift workers, or anyone who spends long hours on their feet and needs durable, waterproof footwear

Best nursing shows and  hiking to

Comfortable from the start and stable on rocky trails. The rock plate works well, traction is solid and they are light enough for longer hikes. Not fully waterproof though. But they breathe and dry quickly, reliable and easy to trust on the trails, The size falls a little bit smaller then expected.
